Uzodimma-led Committee Declares Idahosa Winner of Edo APC Guber Primary Election

Uzodimma-led Committee Declares Idahosa Winner of Edo APC Guber Primary Election
The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election committee for Edo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma on Saturday declared Hon. Dennis Idahosa as winner of the primary election conducted in Edo State.
Announcing the result after collations Governor Uzodimma said; “And the primaries have been duly collated and results returned to our secretariat.”
Governor Uzodimma was flanked by his deputy and Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu, former deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs Titi Laoye- Tomori,  and other members of the committee.
He disclosed that earlier  there was some kind of misinformation as to the venue and (or) the secretariat of the primary election, but clarified that the Party secretariat remained where the results were expected to be collated and announced.
The Chairman who is also the Imo State Governor said following agreement by all stakeholders, after a reasonable dialogue, a direct primary method was adopted that eventually  led to the primary election being conducted in the eighteen (18)  Local Government Areas of Edo State and one hundred and ninety two (192) electoral Wards of the State.
After announcing the result, the primary election committee Chairman drew the attention of the party faithful and delegates to the need for affirmation of the result by the delegates who cast the votes.
He said: Having declared the result, I want to take a motion from the delegates, so we can affirm the result by the delegates as a true representation of what transpired in the field.”
Consequently a delegate, one Mr Charity from Obiihkor  moved the motion thus: “I hereby move that the primary election which took place today, 17th of February 2024, across the 192 Wards, in the 18 LGAs of Edo State was conducted in accordance with the party constitution, that the election was conducted in a free and fair manner and the total votes cast was 42, 381, out of which Hon. Dennis Idahosa scored majority of lawful votes cast.”
He was also seconded by another delegate, Mr. Charles Orosanye from Okada Council while there was no dissenting voice when the Chairman called for counter motion.
After the motions were heard, Governor Uzodimma requested for voice vote affirmation by their fellow delegates which they unanimously chorused.
