Imo LG elections: ISIEC Reshuffles Officers

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) in a major end of year reorganization exercise, has undertaken a comprehensive structural realignment of its operations that has brought about a reposting of personnel across boards, as part of its repositioning efforts in line with its avowed commitment of actualizing its constitutional mandate of conducting a transparent and credible Local Government Council Elections in the state.

The shake-up exercise which has been described as far reaching in scope and content, is the commencement of the reformation policy agenda of the recently reconstituted Commission by His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma Governor, Imo State, even as it is deliberately designed to strengthen the operational capacity and capability of the Commission that is gearing up for the upcoming Council elections.

According to a news release made available on the Commission ‘s Notice Board, the new postings take immediate effect, and all affected officers have been directed to report at their newly assigned duty posts and ensure that a seamless hand over processes are completed on or before 5th January, 2024 without fail.

In a chat with a section of the media, the Chairman of Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) Chief Charles Ejiogu disclosed that plans to mount operational reorientation seminars and workshops for all cadre of staff are already at an advanced stage as part of the reformist policy thrust of the Commission.

It will be recalled that as part of its preparation towards the conduct of a transparent and credible Local Government Council elections, the Commission recently held numerous consultations with critical stakeholders and is poised to revisit its interface engagements with more critical stakeholders, as the exercise was put on hold in order not to have a mix up with the just concluded 11th November, 2023 Imo State Governorship Election.

The rescheduled stakeholders’ engagements designed to commence in the new year are aimed at eliciting the understanding, empathy, and support of Imolites who are desirous of having democratic governance instituted and deepened at the grassroots.

In a recent outing while reconstituting the Commission, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma the Governor reassured Imolites that the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission will conduct the Council elections that was put on hold due to insecurity challenge, in no distant time
