BANDITS MURDER BIZMAN IN IMO, KIDNAP BROTHER

A middle-aged businessman identified as Jeremiah Ogbuji, was yesterday murdered by unknown bandits, at his residence, Irete, in Owerri West council Area of Imo State.
The Late Ogbuji, an indigene of Obile community, in Ohaji Local Government Area, was reportedly sent to his untimely grave as he was said to be chasing abductors of his elder brother for his freedom.
Although, nothing has been ascertained what could be triggered the abduction before the late Jeremiah was killed by the assailants.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command has reacted to the unfortunate incident, saying it received a distress call on 23/02/2024, at about 2108hrs, that a young man was shot at Umugada Market Junction, Irete, by suspected kidnappers.
According to a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Henry Okoye, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ogbaku swiftly mobilized his men to the scene where they met a man later identified as Jeremiah Ogbuji, lying on the ground in his pool of blood, with severe bullet injuries on his chest.
“The operatives immediately rushed him to Federal Medical Center, Owerri where he was confirmed dead and thereafter deposited at the morgue for preservation”.
The release further reads, “frantic Investigation is ongoing to fish out the hoodlums responsible for dastardly act and make them face the full wrath of the law. Accordingly, adequate security measures have been emplaced to forestall future occurrence”.
