Group Acusses Member Of impersonation…. “I’m innocent”- Adamu
By Moris Diala
The Imo state chapter of a highly respected umbrella body of Hausas of Northern Nigeria extraction under the aegis of Arewa United For Peace Foundation( AUPF) has vehemently, disowned a former Special Adviser to Imo State government on Northern Affairs, Hon Hassan Adamu Sokoto over alleged conduct bordering on criminal activities.
Announcing Hassan Adamu Sokoto dismemberment from the Organisation via a press statement endorsed by its state Secretary, Aminu Ahmed, the Arewa United for Peace Foundation listed the nefarious activities of Hassan Adamu which according to the body, were damaging to its overall image to include : using the official letterhead of Arewa United for Peace Foundation to unilaterally write a letter for Courtesy Visit to the Executive Governor of Sokoto state and claiming to be the Imo state chairman of the Organisation ; using the name of Arewa United for Peace Foundation to source funds from the Embassy of United Arab Emirates (UAE) for personal use under the guise and false claim that the money would be used to provide food for indigent Muslims after the 2024 Ramadan fasting.
Hassan Adamu Sokoto actually secured financial assistance from the United Arab Emirates to the tune of five thousand (5000) Dollars which he diverted to his personal purse.
Thirdly, Hassan Adamu Sokoto in addition to being in the habit of leaking official secrets, divulging sensitive information about the organisation’s internal affairs, behaves in a manner that places strong question mark on his membership of such a highly respected organisation as the Arewa United For Peace Foundation.
” This particular person who has now proven to be uncontrollable and above the law, should not be allowed to continue to drag the good name and image of Arewa United For Peace Foundation to the mud. We are aware that he claims to be highly connected to some highly placed persons in Imo state government, and for this reason, has continued to act in a lawless manner and making inflammatory and provocative statements capable of causing breach of the peace.
When contacted, the accused person, Ambassador Hassan Adamu Sokoto, told Daily Nigerian Telegraph that he is innocent of the accusations levelled against him.
