The convener, “New Nigeria Group”-Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has challenged critical stakeholders of the Igbo race to rise up in the promotion and sustenance of the rich Igbo cultural heritage and tradition.
He argued that the propagation of rich Igbo cultural values, norms and values bequeathed by the ancestors should not be misconstrued as the practice of idolatry or an act of atheism by the larger society, warning that a tribe without a culture is doomed to extinction.
Ohuabunwa stated this at a ceremony marking the 60th birthday/20th year reign on the throne by the paramount ruler of Obibi Ochasi kingdom, City of David Clan head, Dio- kpara Ochasiland – His Majesty Eze (Evang) Jude U Mbamara IV Obiozurumba X.
“Igbo tradition does not mean that we do not believe in God and as we all know, a tribe without cultures and tradition will eventually fizzle out on earth”.
He extolled Eze Mbamara as a God-fearing monarch who has brought honour and glory to his people through exemplary leadership in the past 2 decades.
“We are here because we love you and we want to encourage you to continue to love God and to sustain the good works you are doing because when the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice”.
According to him, the New Nigeria Group which came on board on the 20th of July 2019 was meant to rescue the Nigeria nation from further degeneration occasioned by unabated bribery and corruption, kidnapping, ritual killings, gruesome murder, wanton destruction of property among other the disturbing trends holding the nation down.
