DR. KINGSLEY ACHIGBU, PROF. NNENNA OTI:  UPLIFTING FUTHO, PROMOTING HEALTH SECTOR IN IMO

Since assumption of office as Chief Medical Director (CMD ) of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, Dr. Kingsley Achigbu has made outstanding impacts aimed at repositioning  the hospital to greater heights which is anchored on a vision towards enhancing its  service delivery.

As a  leader with a penchant for development,  Dr. Achigbu has consistently exhibited a great passion  to push the FUTHO,  Owerri to greater heights; as well as making sure it becomes a leading provider of healthcare solutions not only in Nigeria; but across Africa. This medical luminary is doing this by show of dedication and commitment to duties as the Chief Medical Director of the prestigious hospital.

Dr.Kingsley Achigbu is a God-fearing medical practitioner imbued with  rare gifts of visionary spirit, incentive thinking, creativity, credibility, sincerity of purpose, integrity and hardwork. He is also an astute administrator and a quintessential leader whose life is dedicated to the upliftment of humanity and service to God.

The unassuming Chief Medical Director (CMD’s) lifestyle towards staff of the hospital and patients, has been a commendable one.  Not only that, Dr. Kingsley Achigbu believes that life makes more meaning when one is healthy and active- hence the hospital has so far provided health information, seminars, sensitization, workshops, awareness and rendering affordable medical services to the public in line with the directive of the Federal Ministry of Health.

Dr. Achigbu has always placed  interests of the FMC staff and patients above his personal wish. This selflesness has been lauded by those whose lives have been positively affected directly or indirectly by this singular disposition.

In respect to their oversight function to ascertain the level of human and infrastructural developments in line with their 2019/ 2020 appropriation budget, Members of the Health Institutions’  Committee of  House of Representatives visited the hospital and saw the sterling performance of the indefatigable Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kingsley Achigbu. They were impressed with numerous completed and ongoing projects in the hospital premises.

They saw the Emergency Units, Neurological units, Gynecological and child Care Units. Truma Units with over 200 bed units and other health facilities completed under the watch of Dr. Achigbu.

The Federal lawmakers were surprised on seeing Higher Power system that will supply electricity to help reduce the usage of gas for power supply and other modern health facilities of International standards to enhance the hospital’s efficiency in service.

Committee Chairman on Federal Health Institutions, Dr.  Pascal Obi who led that delegation and his members were satisfied that the budget was judiciously utilized by the management of the hospital and they therein passed a vote of confidence on him for a job well done. They applauded Dr. Achigbu for doing  wonderful jobs which has brought peace into the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri. Indeed, these accolades are indication that Dr. Achigbu has come to offer a selfless service to the humanity.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) has, at all times, made it known that “Health Is Wealth, emphasizing that a Healthy Nation Is A Wealthy Nation. Dr. Kingsley Achigbu  is one of the best medical practitioners of our time. His humility and down-to-earth nature, has always endeared people of all walks of life to him.

He is a man of many parts whose contributions to the advancement of the medical profession in Imo vis-a-vis Nigeria can not be overemphasized. Dr. Achigbu has meritoriously bagged awards from various professional, religious, traditional and Non- governmental organizations owing to his towering performance in all spheres of life.

It is on record that Dr. Achigbu has put- in his best meaningfully to development of the society. Even during the Covid- 19 era, he collaborated with the Imo Governor,  Sen. Hope Uzodimma’s team and the Federal Government in the fight against the pandemic.

Based on these elements of his personality, Dr. Achigbu has continued to be commended for having shown a great capacity as the Chief Medical Director of the hospital. In the same vein, the lower, middle and the upper classes in our society have showered encomiums and prayers on this unassuming leader who has uplifted humanity through his selfless service as the number one medical Doctor in the Federal  University Teaching Hospital, Owerri.

On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Professor Nnenna Oti; a quintessential Amazon, has perfectly been hand- in- hand with Dr. Achigbu for the greater heights of the hospital. May God bless them. Amen.
